PlayFest Santa Barbara offers internships! You will be able to submit your Intern Application and start getting involved in making theatre history. There will be several intern positions available in each department and interviews will be scheduled soon. Find out what it’s like to run and promote a theatre festival in one of the most beautiful cities in the world! Being an intern at PlayFest Santa Barbara is an excellent opportunity for anyone who wants to pursue a career in the arts, onstage or back stage; to gain actual experience and professional skills. Meet and work with some of the world’s greatest performers and writers. Learn how to schedule performances, run a website, work a box office, or assist senior staff members of the festival and experience and learn what it takes to make PlayFest Santa Barbara happen! *WORK A SHOW – SEE A SHOW*
Volunteering for PlayFest Santa Barbara is the only way to see a SHOW for FREE!
There are three different short-term volunteer positions, and each of them offers a “work a show – see a show” opportunity. For each shift you volunteer with PlayFest Santa Barbara, you’ll receive a Volunteer Voucher – good for a ticket to any PlayFest Santa Barbara performance! We are building our volunteer database in order to make volunteering (including ushering, communicating, and scheduling) much easier to coordinate. If you are interested in any volunteering for PlayFest Santa Barbara in May, please make sure to email email@example.com with “Volunteer” in the subject line. You will be emailed a PlayFest Santa Barbara Volunteer Application Form. Once you complete the form and send it, you will receive an email confirmation. Filling out an application form will allow us to send specialized training and scheduling information based on your interest. Thanks for helping to make PlayFest Santa Barbara happen!
CONCIERGE – We’re putting together a team of enthusiastic concierges, who would be on rotating assignment to the concierge desk at PlayFest Santa Barbara. Our concierges answer general questions, as well as suggest restaurants and routes to venues to our patrons and can help our audience find the perfect show for them. For each shift at the concierge desk, you’ll receive a voucher to see a show for free!
BOX OFFICE / TICKET DISTRIBUTION – We need short-term volunteers to help with will-call distribution. This involves handing out tickets to audience members who have purchased tickets in advance via the internet or phone. You will report to the Box Office Manager and Venue Director on-site, who’ll give you instructions. Volunteers might also get sent to sold-out shows to help audience members find other PlayFest Santa Barbara shows starting soon that are nearby. And remember, for each two-hour shift as a box office volunteer, you’ll receive a voucher to see a show for free!
GENERAL VOLUNTEERS – General volunteers are needed to assist the staff with whatever needs doing. It could be anything from taking a replacement lamp to a venue to taking notes at a daily roll call meeting. Whatever it is, you can bet it is vital to keeping PlayFest Santa Barbara going. If you are interested in any of the above Short Term Volunteer Positions, you can get started by filling out the Volunteer Application Form located at the bottom of the Volunteer Page. Fill out all of the information and specify if you have a preference which position you would like to volunteer for. You’ll then receive the appropriate Volunteer Newsletters with information about training and scheduling. We need help starting in December and throughout the festival, so even if you can onlyhelp for a few hours/days, or late in the festival, your help is still very much appreciated!
