PlayFest Santa Barbara offers internships! There are so many ways to be part of PlayFest Santa Barbara. There will be several intern positions available in each department and interviews will be scheduled soon. Find out what it’s like to run and promote a theatre festival in one of the most beautiful city in the world! Being an intern at PlayFest Santa Barbara is an excellent opportunity for anyone who wants to pursue a career in the Arts, onstage or back stage; to gain ACTUAL EXPERIENCE, ON-THE- JOB TRAINING, and REAL SKILLS. Meet and work with some of the world’s greatest performers and writers. Learn how to schedule performances, run a website, work a box office, or assist senior staff members of the festival and see what it takes to make PlayFest Santa Barbara happen!
If you are interested in any of the above Short Term Volunteer Positions, you can get started by clicking the link below. This will take you to the VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION FORM. Fill out all of the information and press submit. You’ll then receive the appropriate Volunteer Newsletters with information about training and scheduling. We need help starting in July and throughout the festival, so even if you can only help for a few hours/days, or late in the festival, your help is still very much appreciated!
The PlayFest Santa Barbara staff is comprised almost entirely of volunteers. Volunteer staff people do everything, and get a groovy ALL ACCESS pass for PlayFest Santa Barbara and a fancy-shmancy title! Below is a list of sample staff positions. HOWEVER, if you don’t see something that suits you listed below, just let us know! Being a PlayFest Santa Barbara staff person is an EXCELLENT way to gain ACTUAL EXPERIENCE, ON-THE-JOB TRAINING, and REAL SKILLS. MAKE SOMETHING HAPPEN!!

ASST. VOLUNTEER COORDINATORS – ASSIST ALL OF US COORDINATING VOLUNTEERS! Volunteer Coordinators ensure that there are enough volunteers at PlayFest Santa Barbara, and that they are where they are needed. During the festival they are responsible for scheduling volunteers, supervising the distribution of fliers, e-mailing, phone calling, and meeting a lot of people in a short period of time. It’s a great way to become familiar with theatre artists from around the world. Assistant Volunteer Coordinators cover the Volunteer desk at PlayFest Santa Barbara during the festival.
PLAYFEST STAFF – SELL TICKETS AT PlayFest Santa Barbara! With the supportive guidance of the PlayFest Santa Barbara staff, you will assist customers who are purchasing tickets. We need your smiling face! If you’ve ever purchased anything on the web, you can sell tickets at PlayFest Santa Barbara.
ASST. TICKETING MANAGERS – ASSIST IN THE EVENINGS AT PlayFest Santa Barbara! Asst. ticketing managers help the Ticketing Managers prepare and fulfill ticket orders for the festival. This is a perfect way for someone with a “day-job” to pitch in at PlayFest Santa Barbara.
SPECIAL EVENTS DEPARTMENT – The Special Events department of PlayFest Santa Barbara has several openings!
PlayFest Santa Barbara Assistant Directors: help organize and oversee our panels and workshops.
Gala Night Party – Coordinator: help organize and oversee the party, including sound and decoration.
General – Support Staff: be onsite during events to help load, setup, and give information to audience during the event.
We are also looking for photographers, reporters, graphic artists and cartoonists!
ASST. COMPTROLLERS – ASSIST ON YOUR OWN TIME! Asst. Comptrollers will help the Comptroller enter all of the ticket sales information into our database. If you’re a data-entry wiz, this is the job for you. General accounting skills are a plus. Knowledge of or familiarity with Access database software is also great, but it’s a pretty friendly program.
